Marjoram

Dried leaves of marjoram serve as this spice. Marjoram is an aromatic spice with a taste similar to thyme, although milder and sweeter in comparison with it. It adds a great flavor to vegetable and fish soups, meals with beans, eggplants, potatoes, and omelets. In the kitchen it is a generally known spice used in cooking of fatty meats, pea and bean soup as well as tripe. It is added to sausages and other lunchmeat, providing them with a special flavor and fragrance and preventing them from oxidation of fats contained in them. Marjoram facilitates digestion of food containing fat. It is used for production of liqueurs and cosmetic products.
